Overview
The department specializes in offering courses (with the symbol .Ed.). The courses include decisions on the principles of education, social and philosophical foundations of education, educational thought, history of education, adult education and its philosophy, origins, and development, and the philosophy of continuous education and its origins, the teaching profession, education, community issues, and others.
The department is specialized in qualifying the student educationally, by offering him various courses that enrich the student with all educational and professional sides. Moreover, the department is specialized in preparing researchers in research fields and its micro specializations, through different postgraduate programs.
The department intends to be in contact with external society, through a series of lectures, meetings, and visits, hoping to spread benefits to all educational and community services, where sustaining human development is part of our mission.

Mission
The department seeks to prepare expert teachers academically and professionally and to conduct rooting, applied, and field research in the field of educational principles to contribute to solving educational and societal problems. This is in coordination with departments, faculties, and authorities in the offering, producing, and managing of educational knowledge, in addition, to deploying and developing them.
Goals
- Participating in qualifying teachers along all educational phases professionally will enrich them with skills of criticism and analysis of educational terminologies that are related to their path.
- Increase the level of quality of offered educational courses in both stages; undergraduates and postgraduates.
- To prepare discrete researchers in fields of educational principles, using their mentalities and abilities, to keep pace with changes happening in economic, political, and cultural areas.
- To conduct researches that contribute to the production and updating of educational cognition.
- To prepare researchers that serve the educational process, in addition, to enriching educational knowledge and spreading new educational trends.
- To solve learning, educational and social problems that are imposed due to current situations, as to meet the relation between theory and application.
- To enrich the Arabic educational library with a group of historical educational writings.
- To authenticate relations between the department and other departments inside the faculty and the university and with related societal authorities.
- To offer technical consultation that contributes to developing and updating education.
- To enhance the professional level and deepen quality culture inside all employees.
- To promote the skills that enable them to deal with the era’s changes and quality requirements.

Faculty of Education, Suez Canal University, grants the student a Bachelor's degree in Educational Principles specialization. The education period is 4 years, in order to earn Bachelor's degree.
The department specializes in offering courses coded with (Ed.). The courses include principles of education, educational, social, and philosophy fundamentals, educational thinking, education’s history and adults learning philosophy, principles, and development, philosophy of continuous education, the education profession, education, and community issues.
Terms of Acceptance:
- In order to be registered in the Faculty of Education - Suez Canal University, Students must be:
- Meet all acceptance conditions, defined by the Supreme Council of Universities.
- To be totally free for education.
- To pass all aptitude tests assigned by the faculty, for example:
- Interview for the student
- Abilities test
- Medical test
Education Period
- The education period inside the faculty to earn Bachelor's degree is 4 years and divided into two stages. The first stage is divided into 1st and 2nd academic years and the Second stage is divided into 3rd and 4th academic years.
- The academic year is divided into two semesters. The period for each of them is 17 weeks; (15) educational weeks and (2) weeks for exams.
- The student is not shifted to 2nd year if he did not pass all courses. In case of failure in one course or more, the student takes the exam in the 2nd round.
- The student is shifted from 1st year to 2nd then to 3rd then to 4th, in case he succeeds in all courses, but if the student failed in one course or more, the student takes the exam in the 2nd round.
- The education language in all divisions is Arabic except in foreign divisions (English- French).
- The education language of English specializations is English.
- Educational courses’ education language is Arabic in all divisions, except in foreign divisions, which will be with its language. As for scientific specializations, the education language is English.
- The student is obliged to attend 75% of scientific and theoretical courses.
- The written exam period is two hours and three hours for long periods of courses.
- A student who failed in field training will fail in the academic year.
- The final grade is calculated according to the grade total average during the 4 years.
Grading system:
- Excellent: 100% to 90%
- Very Good: 90% to 80%
- Good: 80% to 70%
- Accepted: 70 to 60%
- Weak: 60% to 40%
- Very week: less than 40%
Faculty of Education, Suez Canal University, offers different degrees, such as:
- Diploma degree
- Master’s degree
- Ph.D. degree
Education system:
The student is allowed to register in spring or fall time semesters, with a maximum of 20 credit hours per semester. It is allowed for the student to register in the summer semester, with a maximum of 9 hours. Registration hours are not considered with research paper registration.
Terms of Acceptance:
- Students must be a holder of Bachelor's degrees from known universities.
- Students much are matching scientific department conditions and get approval from the department’s council and faculty’s council.
- Students must submit all documents required to postgraduate and research administration.
- Student registration is not taken into consideration, only after paying all fees.
- The student who doesn’t finish all registration procedures, before the end of 2nd week of the fall semester or summer semester, or 1st week of the summer semester, is not allowed to attend lectures.
